Couple face jail sentences for the running of brothels

A couple face jail sentences for the running of four brothels, reports the Daily Mail.

Michael Dalton, and Nikki Chen were arrested last July for trafficking women from China to work at brothels in Sunbury, Egham, West Drayton, and Surbiton.

Women were forced to work as prostitutes in order to pay off their debts to the couple, and were told that their families would be at risk if they did not co-operate. The women were transported between brothels via a van, which was fitted with a cage.

During an inital investigation, police observed at least twelve customers visiting each brothel, every day.

Scotland Yard's Deputy Inspector, Kevin Hyland, said that men who use prostitues must realise they "are fuelling human misery". "Perpetuating the abuse of women" might have been more pointed, methinks.

The pair face charges of 'controlling prostitution for gain', and are due to be sentenced next month.
