Cuts threaten foster care system
Being a foster carer (most of whom are women) is one of those hugely unrecognised jobs that pays a pittance but really does change lives.
Unfortunately, there are a massive shortage of foster carers currently, and a worrying two thirds of the ones we do have are coming up to retirement. Robert Tapsfield, chief executive of the Fostering Network, is worried that further cuts could tip the system into crisis.
