England women win first match of hockey World Cup

The England team won their first match against Spain in the hockey World Cup on Sunday, with a 3-2 win in Argentina, report the BBC. The site also features highlights of the match.

It was a narrow win and although delighted by the result, coach Danny Kerry was reportedly disappointed in the team’s performance, reports the Telegraph.

“We were awful but we won,” he said. “We were outplayed for most of the game and Spain played very well. I was happy with the way we defended against their skilful players.”

Let’s hope Danny Kerry can raise the team’s performance for another win against China – beaten 2-1 by Korea in their first game yesterday – tomorrow.
