Welsh charities report steady increase in numbers of forced marriage victims

Wales online reports that fears have been raised about the true extent of Wales’ hidden problem of forced marriage and honour crimes after two leading charities reported a “steady increase” in service users.

Experts have voiced concerns about what they claim is a largely unseen problem in the country, physician and which they say the authorities have previously been slow to act on.

“It’s also vital to realise that many of those who suffer a forced marriage do so in silence – that’s the dangerous nature of the problem.”
