Object to get porn out of our papers
OBJECT, a UK group against the objectification of women, is running a new campaign to put pressure on MPs to end the promotion of pornography in our mainstream press once and for all.
We’re all aware of the recent media storm cataloguing the many unethical horrors of Rupert Murdoch’s News International, as a result of which the Prime Minister is now calling for an inquiry into the ‘culture and ethics’ of the press.
Object want to ensure that the portrayal of women in the press is a core component of the inquiry.
Object say: “We have a unique opportunity now to finally make sure Page 3 and all newspaper porn is seen as incompatible with a responsible media.”
Or, if you’re feeling a bit more loquacious, write your own letter or adapt the template and snail-mail it to your MP at:
The House of Commons, London, SW1A 0AA.
As Object remind us: “Don’t forget to include your postal address in all communication with your MP so that they know you are their constituent and they will respond.”
And please copy your emails/letters to Anna at Object, and let her know how you get on!
Let’s get porn out of our papers!
