Ellie Watmuff, co-editor

I recently graduated with a BA in English from the University of Southampton and like many undergraduates spent much of my time writing or protesting for various causes.

During my studies I encountered the works of feminist writers and journalists like Jeanette Winterson and Angela Carter who led me to appreciate the importance- and scarcity- of strong feminist voices in the press and global news media.

I feel strongly about equal rights and am especially interested in international law and development. I worked in an international law firm in Beijing for several months last year, which offered an insight into China’s social issues and justice system.

For me, being involved in an independent project such as Women’s Views on News is the perfect way to discuss and draw attention to issues affecting women worldwide.
