At 25, I’m still not quite sure what I want to ‘be’.
At the moment I’m working as a primary teaching assistant, as well as tutoring older children in English language and literature, and also trying to squeeze in writing of various kinds.
I have a poetry blog and contribute to middlebrowmagazine.co.uk.
I worked in magazine journalism for about two years, before completing an MA in Issues in Modern Culture at University College London, which has confirmed my interest in researching and writing about the representation of different social groups.
Near the start of my undergraduate degree at Oxford, I remember how shocked and frustrated one of my tutors was to find that in a room of nine students (seven of whom were female), not one would identify ourselves as a feminist.
Since then, I’ve come to embrace the label, which for me means promoting understanding of how gender is culturally constructed, and the ways in which it can limit or oppress.
