I am a bit of a wanderer, and since graduating from the University of Nottingham in 2010 with a degree in French and Hispanic studies I have worked in England, France and Costa Rica.
My previous jobs have included travel writer, translator, cocktail waitress, call centre operator and face-painter, amongst others!
I am currently working as an English teacher in the French Alps but will be returning to the UK shortly to study for my NCTJ diploma in journalism.
Feminism is something that has crept up on me quite gradually – while working as a classroom assistant in Chile I became aware of the role that gender stereotypes play in education, and since then have continued to find examples of gender injustice, both in the media and through everyday experience, much closer to home.
The opportunity to combine journalism with the cause for equality is something that I am very grateful for, and I am delighted to be part of the WVoN team.
