I have been a news and current affairs journalist for more than 17 years, including eight years writing for the BBC News website.
My role there involved writing breaking news stories, background and analysis across a broad range of subjects as well as embedding audio, video clips, and links to web pages.
When I left print media, I was a Group News Editor managing five weekly newspaper titles for Trinity Mirror plc in Liverpool.
Throughout my career I have written numerous news features ranging from the rise in teenage alcoholism to analysing the history of cruise ship building in the UK.
I am now juggling my new freelance career with writing my first novella, learning French and political blogging. I am excited about being given the opportunity to contribute to Women’s Views On News and I hope I can assist in raising its profile.
