Aisha Farooq
Co-editor
I am a freelance writer and journalist just starting out in the real world. My background is mainly in publishing and magazine editing.
I have an MA in English Literary Studies from the University of York, and a BA (Hons) in English Language and Literature in Education from the University of Birmingham.
I mostly write about issues that are very important to me: my culture, my gender and my environment. It is surprising how encompassing and universal these spheres actually are, especially in regards to how much they involve other women, young and old, around me.
I have always been a strong advocate of the female voice and its right to be heard, particularly in my own cultural sphere, where so many feel the need to stay silent.
For this reason, it is such an honour to be a part of the WVoN team, which promotes so passionately the need for equality and fairness all around.
