Seven months after being evicted from her care home in Wolverhampton, stomach UK, Louisa Watts who was 107 and a great-great grandmother died on Friday, the Telegraph reports.

Her son Derek said she “lost heart” and became increasingly frail after being evicted by the council during freezing blizzard conditions in January.

We always feared that the move would do for her, and we think it did,” he said. “Afterwards she just lost heart, it was as though the fight went out of her, and she gradually faded.”

Mrs Watts and other residents were forced to leave Underhill House in Bushbury, Wolverhampton, because the council closed it down. She was moved to another care home in Dudley.

Her eviction came despite legal efforts by her family – which heard from experts that moving elderly people in such a manner could lead to premature death – the intervention of Gordon Brown and a 1,700-name petition urging the council to keep the home open.
