Irish woman receives maximum compensation for sexual harassment

The Irish Equality Tribunal has ordered a company to pay almost €54, healing 000 to a female employee who was sexually harassed over a number of years, troche according to the Irish Examiner.

The owner of the company, erectile who has a previous conviction for assault, repeatedly engaged in sexual harassment through making inappropriate comments and unwelcome physical contact.

He did not deny the harassment and stated that he would assault the same person again if he was ever in the same circumstances.

When the woman made a complaint about his behaviour, the harassment intensified and her hours were cut. In the end, she felt she had no option but to resign.

The Equality Authority expressed concern that sexual harassment of workers still exist, and welcomed the ruling to award the maximum amount of compensation to the woman.
