Police warning – Joanna Yeates killer still loose

The news media are closely following developments in the murder investigation of 25 year-old Joanna Yeates, a landscape architect who lived and worked in Bristol.

The young woman’s body was found by walkers on Christmas day and post mortem evidence revealed that she had been strangled.

Her landlord, a Mr Chris Jefferies, was  taken in for questioning and subsequently released on bail.

The Daily Mail report that Avon and Somerset police have released a statement that the killer is ‘still at large’.

The police are warning women in the Bristol area not to open the door to strangers or walk alone after dark.

Students starting back at university this week will be briefed on the killing and given advice on how to stay safe.

In their article on the continuing investigation, the Mail points out that a number of questions remain unanswered.

Did Joanna know her killer? Have the police found all relevant CCTV footage and are all potential witnesses identified?

The question that seems to be causing the most concern is the pizza bought by Ms Yeates on the evening of her murder. The receipt for the item lay on a table in her flat but neither the pizza nor its packaging have been found.

This evidence, if discovered, could prove key in finding the killer.

The investigation continues.
