Six months on, Haitian women still need our support
It's six months since the devastating earthquake that struck Haiti and although media attention is waning, rebuilding goes on.
In an effort to revive public awareness and involvement in that rebuilding effort, the Judith Leibor store on Madison Avenue has introduced a "Don't Forget" pendant necklace.
It will donate 100% of the profits from the necklace to the Haitian Chapter of Vital Voices, called Femmes en Democratie (Women in Democracy), which operates under the slogan "Invest in Women, Improve the World", according to Forbes.com.
At the same time the Global Fund for Women is also trying to ensure that more of the money raised will go to developing women's leadership and promoting greater involvement in decision-making during the reconstruction process.
