Cleanliness more important than contraception on a date

The risks of unprotected sex are still taking second place in the minds of many young people on a night out.

Personal hygiene was seen as more important than contraception when preparing for a date according to 25 per cent of young people.

This disturbing figure is part of a worldwide poll carried out by Marie Stopes International and published for World Contraception Day, 26 September.

The UK results revealed 16% of young people who admitted to having unprotected sex said they had forgotten to use contraception with a new partner, 13% said their partner preferred not to use it and 19% said they failed to take precautions because they were drunk.
