Leading pharmaceutical giants Wyeth and Upjohn Co. – both now owned by parent multinational Pfizer – have settled out of court over allegations that hormone replacement drugs caused breast cancer.

Two Nevada women – one of whom has since died – brought the cases.

This is by no means an isolated occurence. ABC news reports that the Nevada Supreme Court last month awarded $58 million to three women who made similar cases against Wyeth.

The news corp also reports that these cases are among “thousands filed across the country.”
