Two women injured in leaping from burning apartment
Two women are in hospital after jumping from the top floor of a fourth-storey suite to escape an apartment fire early Thursday in north Edmonton, reports the Edmonton Journal.
Firefighters were called to the two-alarm blaze at the Wyndham Crossing apartment complex near 48th Street and 137th Avenue at 5:15 a.m., Edmonton Fire Rescue spokesman Tim Wilson said.
Damage is estimated at $1 million, including $250,000 in residents’ belongings. Several charities have stepped in to help people.
