Britons pay a ‘high price’ to look their best

Summary of story from Daily Star, case 21.2.11.

British women spend an average £133,640 each on looking good during their lifetime, a study found.

It adds up to a whopping £2,056 a year on everything from haircare to working out.

The average man spends £1,230 a year looking after himself, a total of £75,030 in a lifetime.

Staying in shape and having a good hair style were the main priorities for women.  And while 82 per cent said they do it to keep themselves happy, 26 per cent admitted it was to please their partners.

Sue Leeson, from TV shopping channel QVC, which commissioned the research, said: “Body maintenance is a vital part of feeling good about yourself and we all invest a lot of time and energy to look our best.”

“Rather than trying out faddy miracle treatments, invest in a beauty regime you can really stick to and get results with.”
