Summary of story from Daily Mail, March 19, 2011

Up to ten commuters at a Los Angeles train station fought off registered sex offender, James Alfred Burnett, when he allegedly tried to kidnap a teenage girl on Thursday.

‘He had grabbed her in a bear hug and he was dragging her off,’ Steve Whitmore, a sheriff’s department spokesman, told ABC News.

‘This group of passengers, could be up to 10 people, actually prevented this from occurring.

‘They tackled him and they brought him to the ground.’

The girl, who was shaken but unharmed, was then able to break free and and run away while the alleged attacker boarded a passing train.

Burnett, 46, was later arrested at another station.
