Wandsworth Council in London is attempting to evict an innocent eight-year-old girl – and her mother – from their home because her brother was allegedly involved in rioting.

He had not even been convicted before the council announced their intention of evicting the family.

This is part of a wider set of knee-jerk reactions to last week’s rioting which is being looked at in a very oversimplified manner.

And why is an innocent child being punished for the actions of her brother?

Causing disruption and homelessness is by no means a solution to the problems facing the UK’s inner city areas.

You can read and sign a petition against this eviction, started by a nearby resident, Robert Davidson, here.

Davidson said that this kind of collective punishment “is only going to make innocent people feel hated by society and cause more problems in future.”
