Summary of story from BBC News, August 20, 2011

Irish journalist Orla Guerin recently went to see what had happened to a little girl she had last seen in April 14 on a stretcher in a hospital in Misrata, in Libya.

A little girl aged six had her body punctured with shrapnel after a rocket hit her home.

Guerin finds her at her family’s home, near an olive grove. A little girl in jeans and a pink T-shirt, with dark hair in pony tails.

Arwa sits by her grandfather’s side as his son Sadiq relays the latest news from the battlefield. He has taken up arms, as have two of his brothers.

As the adults discuss the fighting, Arwa traces circles in the sand with her hand.

She has learnt some Arabic letters at the local mosque, and she is eager to go to school, and she wants to be a singer.

“When the schools are open again, I want to go there,” she says, “to learn how to read and write.”
