Summary of story from the Daily Mail, October 8, 2011

A woman was left ‘frightened’ and ‘distressed’ after her former husband sent her a video of a woman being stoned to death as a warning of what happens to adulterers.

Devout Christian Josef Marin, 52, was harassing his former wife Luminita following their divorce.

She had obtained a restraining order against Marin but despite this he continued to harass her, even moving to an address opposite hers.

Rachel Monaghan, prosecuting, told Guildford Crown Court: ‘She received an email from him with an attachment. When she opened the attachment she was very frightened and distressed by what she saw.’

The footage showed a woman in a T-shirt with her lower underwear exposed being kicked by a group of men.

Monaghan said: ‘She was lying on the ground and her face was bloody. A male stood above her head and dropped what looked like a concrete breeze block on her head.

‘It appeared she was dead.’

The court was told that the accompanying message said this was the fate of adulterous women as laid down in the Old Testament.

A message from Marin, a father-of-two from Weybridge, Surrey, said: ‘Thank Jesus. He will destroy.’

Marin, who moved to Britain from Austria in 2005, had obtained the video from a Christian society and said it was sent to warn his former wife and not meant as a threat.

He was yesterday given a suspended nine-month jail sentence, a three-year restraining order and put on a three-month curfew.
