Israeli women pose naked in support of Egyptian blogger
Summary of story from ynetnews.com, November 20, 2011
Forty women have posed for a nearly nude photograph in support of an Egyptian blogger who last week posted naked pictures of herself in an attempt to highlight the lack of free expression for women in her country (see WVoN story).
The Egyptian activist, Aliaa Magda Elmahdy, 20, has since received criticism and threats.
Organiser Or Tepler, 28, issued the invitation to take part “to show support in a non-violent and legitimate way for a woman who is just like us – young, ambitious, full of dreams, and evidently has a developed sense of humour.”
The women posed with a sign saying “Love without limits” and “Homage to Aliaa Elmahdy. Sisters in Israel.”
Tepler has since attempted to contact Elmahdy, but found her Twitter and Facebook accounts have been closed.
