Summary of story from BBCNews, November 4, 2011

The UK’s Home Secretary, the Conservative Member of Parliament Theresa May, has said the protesters camping outside London St Paul’s Cathedral should leave because it is an important site for the image of the UK.

Speaking on the BBC One programme Question Time on November 3, Ms May said: “Personally, yes, I would like to see them go.

“St Paul’s is a very important site. What we’re looking at is an image of the UK.

“I think it’s important that people coming to the UK are able to visit sites like that and they’re able to go on operating.”

WVoN comment: I think it is very important that people in the UK are able to go on operating.

  1. Sometimes I wonder just what these politician’s values are? Obviously the UK residents and their welfare are low on the list of priorities, while visitor’s impressions are of far more concern. After all a visitor will spread the word that Britain is a wonderfully historic place and be gone in a few weeks at most. Sadly we are left homeless, jobless, frustrated and unable to even comment on our plight. Well that is how they would like things.
Good on you demonstrators for sticking to your beliefs, more power to you!

  2. St Paul’s has been on the news the world over, and much was, or could have been positive. Personally I would like to see Theresa May go! She is not good for the image of the UK.
