Hunt for missing woman turns into double murder investigation
Summary of story from Telegraph, March 25, 2011
UK detectives announced last night that they have found the body of missing night-clubber Sian O’Callaghan, six days after she went missing (see WVoN story).
Police have arrested taxi driver Chris Halliwell (47) who is now being held on suspicion of kidnap and double murder after he told officers the location of two bodies.
Detective Steve Fulcher, who is leading the investigation, said: “The location of these two bodies have been identified to me by this individual, one of whom has yet to be identified formally, but I am quite clear is Sian.”
The body thought to be Ms Callaghan was found at the Uffington White Horse beauty spot in Oxfordshire, England.
Sian was last seen alive over 20 miles away at Suju nightclub in Swindon in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Detectives refused to comment on the unidentified body, but reports claim it is that of an unnamed woman killed in 2001.
