Tearful Amanda Knox arrives home in Seattle

Summary of story from The Guardian, October 5, 2011

Amanda Knox has arrived home in Seattle, USA,  following her acquittal for the murder of Meredith Kercher (see WVoN coverage) and four years in prison in Italy.

Visibly emotional and shaking, Ms Knox spoke briefly to supporters at a news conference after alighting at Seattle-Tacoma international airport.

“I’m really overwhelmed right now,” she said. “I was looking down from the airplane and it seemed like everything wasn’t real.”

“Thank you to everyone who’s believed in me, who’s defended me, who’s supported my family.”

Knox, 24, and ex-boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito, 27, were cleared on appeal of killing Meredith Kercher in Perugia, Italy, in 2007.
